Sculptures of characters, also known as maquettes, are essential visual development tools during production of an animated film. These allow 2D animators to correctly and consistently model their character in any position or gesture. Disney Legend Glen Keane also used sculptures as reference when animating one of the most intimidating characters on the big screen, the Beast from Beauty and the Beast (1991). Come learn how to design your own monstrous creature, then use clay and carving tools bring it to life.
